Electronicaems – Magnetic Linear Encoders, Precision Complemented with Cost-Effective Operations

What are Magnetic Linear Encoders?
At the outset, let us understand the concept of linear encoders. These encoders are sensors, transducers, or readhead coupled up with a position encoding scale. There are two types of encoders, either absolute or incremental. Magnetic linear encoders are one of the types of linear encoders that are comprised of active (magnetized) or passive (variable reluctance) scales. The position may be sensed or determined with the help of sense coils, magnetoresistive readheads, or the Hall Effect.

Application of Magnetic Linear Encoders
Magnetic linear encoders have been in use for quite some time throughout various industrial applications. These are primarily used in measurements and motion systems. Speaking of measurements, the application of absolute magnetic encoders includes laser scanners, gear measurement, tension testers, calipers, digital readouts, etc. In motion systems, linear encoders offer high-speed and accurate movements and the applications include machine tools, robotics, wire bonders, semiconductor handling and testing equipment, PCB assembly equipment, and many others.

Electronicaems, one of the leading precision device manufacturing organizations, has been manufacturing magnetic linear encoders for a considerable period of time, which, in turn, has been simplifying a lot of otherwise challenging functions within various applications. Let us now proceed to take a look at some of the products offered under this umbrella.

Magnetic Linear Encoder Products

à Magnetic Tape
Here are some of the essential features of the magnetic tape.
ü Extruded plastic impregnated with Barium Ferrite glued to a stainless steel tape through a special type of glue. The stainless steel tape and the special glue ensure rigidity to the magnetic tape and equal the thermal coefficient of the glued tape and the stainless steel tape, respectively.
ü The magnetic tape and the readhead offer high resistance towards dust, dirt, oil, and vibrations.
ü Applications include machine tools, automation, robotics, special purpose machines, linear motor applications, etc.
ü Available in multiple sizes including 1mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 2.56mm and also 5mm pole pitches.

à Magna Slim
ü Contact less magnetic measurement system
ü Highly resistant to dust, oil, dirt and vibrations
ü Easy to install
ü Low profile system, easy to install in compact spaces
ü Modular design offers ease of maintenance
ü EMC14 and EMC25 make this product an apt choice for non-contact, high-speed and precision measurements.

à Magna S1, S2
ü Open type contactless encoders
ü Designed for harshest machine tool industry environment
ü IP67 rating
ü Maximized mounting dimension for smaller spaces
ü Applications include milling machines, grinders, HBM, and lathe machines
ü Available from 100mm in length to upto 30mtr and beyond.

à MG232 Magna
ü Enclosed high speed linear encoder
ü Easy to install
